Care and Maintenance
To extend the life, color, and quality of your shoes, I recommend conditioning the leather with Lexol and/or Saddlesoap once every 6 months. Leather dries out (like skin), especially after being exposed to heat or rain. Use caution with products such as silicone that simply waterproof because, like nylon, leather loses its ability to breathe when coated with silicone, resulting in sweaty feet.
Each shoe is individually crafted with utmost attention to the matching the pair. Nature, however, does occasionally have flaws or minor cosmetic differences. This is not a defect, but a difference between a handmade unique shoe and a mass-produced machine-made shoe.
What if they get wet? I don’t recommend wearing your shoes in a swamp, but do expect them to get wet on occasion. When wet, leather stretches, so when you dry them be careful not to leave them too close to the heat source as this will increase the chance of the leather shrinking and/or drying stiff. Lexol or another leather conditioner will help to renew them if this happens.

Midsole and wearing-in time
Phoebe’s Footwear are made to mold directly to the shape of your foot both underneath where there is a foam core and the upper leather. The shoes are designed to fit like a glove. This will take time, so if your shoes are initially a bit tight (which I recommend, particularly in the toes), wear them with very thin socks or nylons in the beginning and for a few hours (2 or 3) at a time. Depending on how often you wear them and degree of tightness, within a month your shoes will have formed to your foot. In the beginning, the foam core may feel like a trampoline, so remember you will gain about one-half inch more space in your heel and parts of your foot where weight is carried.
As a small manufacturer, I am unable to give cash refunds. However, if you pay for the postage and are not happy with your initial choice, I will keep sending you shoes until you find your pair. The first time is a free exchange providing the exchange is not damaged or been worn to the point of being broken in but for a 3rd pair or any thereafter I charge a $10. restocking fee. Free adjustments to your choice that are addressed within 30 days of the date of purchase are a service I provide. I guarantee my work’s stitching and gluing under normal use and wear for 90 days from the purchase date. But if your puppy chews up a strap, for example, this is not covered by my guarantee. I can, however, most likely replace it for a small fee. My goal is to keep your shoes being worn for many, many years.
Your shoes are made to be repaired, not simply tossed when the soling wears down. Please repair, keep them out of the landfill!
I will recondition and/or resole your shoe (which includes a new foam core) for a small fee down the line. For repairs and resoling contact me.
